The only feature of our stay that I would put on the plus side was breakfast.

I thought that the use of a picture of the old abbey on the website was a little disingenuous when ones accommodation is in 1970's style sporting blocks. The reception staff were merely functional - they didn't even explain that you needed a code to drive off site - they needed a personality injection. There was only one cup in the room but when one has had a shower and is ready to go to bed and the "reception" is about 400-500 yards away in another block then one gives up. The surround to the shower base was all cracked and splitting and the doors did not close towards the bottom causing a large pool of water to form on the bathroom floor when the shower was used. The accommodation may have been functional when built but it has long passed its sell by date. It is a complete misnomer to describe this accommodation as a "hotel".

    Very good

Stunning location in a 12th century abbey on the banks of the Thames with lots of sporting activity going on.The evening I was there was a lovely sunny evening perfect for sitting by the river watching the activity on the boats

    Rooms fairly basic

    Very good

Grounds, sports facilities , the abbey , location - very scenic. Clean rooms. Cheap for location.

No radio in room , room was really basic, too tiny to sit anywhere. Only 5 channels on tv. A lot of athletes at the site and they are noisy late into the night.

Clean functional rooms only a £20 taxi ride from Henley and free parking. Excellent shower.

Small minimalist room as part of a sports training complex

    Fabulous

The staff were extremely helpful and the brakfast was fantastic

Room was basic but functional and had not been hoovered very well. However, it was more than adequate for our purposes.

Good location, nice breakfast, breakfast staff very cheerful and helpful.

Appalling receptionist, very unhelpful. Although aware it was budget accommodation, could have been a lot cleaner!

    The location

The rooms are very basic, more student accomadion than hotel. The curtains were stained. The room was cold, the heating having been turned off after the recent warm weather. When we complained, we were told that there were no plans to turn the heating back. This inspite of the fact that it felt warmer outside the building than inside. To his credit, the night security man did lend us the fan heater provided for him. The breakfast which was well presented and looked good, was cold. Speaking to other guests who had been there the day before us, this was a regular occurrence.

Simple, but comfortable room with bath. It's ideal if you want to explore the surrounding countryside or use the sports facilities. Otherwise, it's a few minutes drive or cycle to Marlow.

Perfect weather and setting made the one-night stay very pleasant

    Exceptional

The Abbery itself is beautful and the location by the Thames is stunning

    Good

It was quiet and relaxing if a little basic but fitted the price of the room.

I was told a full english breakfast but was only offered a bacon sandwich and coffee which was not as expected.

    Abbey building is exceptional

Very basic accommodation, poor signage, rooms not warm, bathroom mouldy, poor wifi service

    Good

The grounds are amazing and the room where you have your breakfast is very old and interesting. Breakfast was limited but good. The venue is a national sports centre for GB rowing and tennis amongst other sports.

The accomodation is 'student' style so if you just want a bed for the night, its fine but is not what I was expecting from the website advert. And therefore come prepared there's no hair dryer or iron or reception even like a normal hotel. No real reception - we arrived late. No wifi, no onsite food / bar.
